Hreinn Fridfinnsson -invitation

"After a while, a shadow of a flying bird might pass across my hands."

It would not be right to define Hreinn Fridfinnsson as a strictly Conceptual artist - so rich are the range of directions and types of expression explored in his practice. Indeed, if his works move away from te more analytical forms adopted by certain Conceptualists, we could see it as belongings to a more lyrical line, characterized by a romantic tendency that seeks the potency of imagination, often conveyed by relating tp the natural landscape and its phenomena. It is no small merit of Fridfinnsson's work to have brought a narrative quality to Postminimalist art in more explicit ways than most artists of his generation.

Dans la presse

"Hreinn Fridfinnsson was born in a landscape of almost nothing. A land at the end of the world, both bare and majestic, on which the imagination of men made elves and spells grow. This harsh and grandiose nature, fiels of singular natural phenomena, favorable to the blossoming of myths, irrigates all the artist's work." Irène Languin, in Tribune de Genève, mai 2019

"Cleanly cut wire mesh, alone or surrounded by glassware, invented fossil stones accompanied by a photograph, prints printed on canvas framing metal rods, drapery falling in the middle of decorative geometric forms constitute the essential of the artistic paraphernalia of Hreinn Fridfinnsson." Hervé Legros, in Art Press n°154, 1991
